John Brink
President and CEO

John Brink began his life long forest industry career in Holland. He has broad ranging involvement in both secondary and primary manufacturing in both Holland and Canada.

John has the unique benefit of having extensive hands-on knowledge and experience. He developed his " no nonsense " management approach as the owner operator of Brink Forest Products Ltd. an integrated lumber remanufacturing plant located in Prince George, BC producing a range of structural, industrial and value-added wood products destined for local and international markets.  The company started operations on its current site in 1975 and has grown steadily within the forest products industry utilizing the softwood species of northern BC.  In 2003 Brink acquired Pleasant Valley Remanufacturing Ltd in Houston, BC and is today one of the largest independent lumber remanufacturers in Canada producing almost 100 MMfbm of high quality fingerjoint studs per year.  The Brink companies presently employ approximately 225 people.  Brink is certified to the ISO 9001 quality management standard and ISO 14001 environmental management standard.

John is recognized as a pioneer in the forest industry in BC.

• Received his training in Holland as a furniture maker and followed that with an extensive apprenticeship program in secondary lumber manufacturing.
• Worked extensively in the northern BC forest industry gaining experience and rapid promotion in several sawmilling companies.
• Built his company Brink Forest Products Ltd. 32 years ago from the ground up, often leading the way in new directions in secondary manufacturing and fingerjointing.
• Has a long commitment of service, building the forest industry and in particular the secondary manufacturing sector where for the past thirty-five years he has been actively involved in building and organizing the sector.

John has a passion for the forest industry and Northern British Columbia.  His vision for the future is inspiring.  He believes that our future depends on further manufacturing of our rich forest resources.  By making more than dimension lumber, we could triple – or even quadruple forestry related jobs in British Columbia.  John believes that we require a new industrial strategy that is firmly anchored to our strengths and exploits the ample opportunities available to us in the global market.
