  OUR COMPANY > Values

Quality, Safety, and Environmental Stewardship.

These are the values that drive the company. Our management systems ensure that we adhere to these values.

Quality:
We are committed to a policy of quality management and continuous quality improvement to ensure that our customers receive a product:

  • That meets or exceeds their needs and specifications
  • Is graded and stamped in accordance with the Canadian Lumber Standards Accreditation Board (C.L.S.A.B), National Lumber Grades Authority (NLGA), and the American Lumber Standards (A.L.S.C) lumber grading requirements
  • Is packaged to provide protection from the elements, safety and ease of handling and clear identification of dimension and grade.

We use the ISO 9001- 2000 quality management system to strive to meet this policy and have developed a quality manual and written in-house standards to implement it. Macdonald Inspection Services Ltd., an authorized grade-stamping agency for the A.L.S.C and C.L.S.A.B, regularly inspects our products, providing independent verification of the accuracy of our lumber grading.

Safety:
We are committed to a safe work environment and consider occupational health and safety as one of our key management goals. We are determined to promote work attitudes and disciplines that ensure the well-being and safety of our employees and any visitors to the site. We work hard to balance production, productivity and safety in our day-to-day operations.

We have developed a safety manual, safe work practices and procedures that conform to the requirements laid out in the WCB OH&S Regulation 296/97. We have defined the responsibilities of management and employees with respect to safety and have developed a joint safety committee to actively try to prevent accidents, eliminate hazards, and through corrective action, continuously improve work methods where required.

Environment:
We seek to ensure that we protect the environment in which we operate. We are committed to preventing pollution through the control of industrial emissions and residues to the air, soil or waters of our environment. We will ensure that the environmental aspects and impacts associated with our activities and operations are identified, assessed and managed.

The company has established procedures that address the issue of environmental sensitivity at all levels of the organization and has set clear, measurable objectives that are regularly reviewed to ensure continuous improvement of our performance. We are committed to meet or exceed the environmental legislation and regulations of Canada, the Province of British Columbia, the City of Prince George and other requirements to which we subscribe.
