Achievement Awards recognize 46 British Columbians

British Columbia Community Achievement Awards

Forty-four outstanding British Columbians were named today by Premier Gordon Campbell and Keith Mitchell, chair of the British Columbia Achievement Foundation, as recipients of the third annual B.C. Community Achievement Awards.

"It is our privilege to recognize the work of the individuals whose efforts and accomplishments help make British Columbia's communities better places to live," said Campbell. "We can all be inspired by their leadership, selflessness and determination."

"These individuals have had such an impact on the lives of people in their communities," added Mitchell. "Their commitment and dedication to helping others is something that deserves special recognition. Hundreds of nominations were received for these awards. The foundation was pleased to hear from so many British Columbians about the exceptional people in their communities."

The recipients of the 2006 British Columbia Community Achievement Awards will be recognized in a formal presentation ceremony at Government House in Victoria on April 26, 2006. Each individual will be presented with a certificate and a medallion designed by B.C. artist Robert Davidson.
